Bentley's Health Formula

Not only is your body the temple of God, but a healthy body is important for quality of life, as well as a good witness. Also, your body is so tied to the rest of your life, that it will affect every aspect of your life (including spiritual!)
Thanks to one of my healthier friends, Andrew Bentley, for a simple formula for good health.
  1. Do 30 min. of intense cardio at least 3 times a week.
  2. Eat whole foods.
  3. Get plenty of rest.

Soundtrack To Your Life

…be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord… -Apostle Paul

Music religious heat inspires, it wakes the soul, and lifts it high, and wings it with sublime desires, and fits it to bespeak the Deity. -Joseph Addison

Music is extremely important and extremely powerful. You can look at the music that you listen to as being the soundtrack to your life. Not only does your music reflect your life...it profoundly shapes your life. That's why we need to be deliberate about the music that we listen to. If you are attempting to live a life of worship, then I would suggest that you listen to worship music.

Here are some of my current favorites...

Israel & New Breed

In my opinion, Israel is THE leader in cross-cultural worship today. His albums are both deep and fun. Alive in South Africa is his latest...it's a must have (like all his others.)

Hillsong United

United albums are full of excitement and passion for God. They are good for worship and a work-out. United We Stand is their latest, but Look to You is my favorite.

David Crowder Band

If you are a bit on the abstract side (like myself) then David Crowder is for you. He’s quite out of the box.

Flying with Eagles

If you want to soar with ealges, then don't waste
your time hanging around with turkeys.
-Anonymous

Some believe we are a product of our surroundings, and some say we simply are what we choose to be. The matter of fact is, we are today the choices we made yesterday.
We've all heard over the pulpit, from our parents and a host of other people on the importance of watching who we hang around with.

My challenge for you this summer is that you re-evaluate your relationships, and surround yourself with people that have the same mentality(in a good way) as you. Develop friendships with people that are already doing what you want to do or those striving for the same purpose
and are wanting to see you improve. Find yourself a positive rolemodel, and if possible, a mentor.

Seek first the kingdom of God
Love people
Take the limits off
Aim for the sky
Desire to be amongst the best,- desire to soar with eagles!!!

a step farther

Yesterday, we had a bit of a different LowDown (our youth class at TC). We discussed turning our personal style and dress into worship to God...a concept that hit me yesterday morning. If clothing is a language, then let's use it to worship God. In other words, dress to glorify God...not self!
P.S. Josephs coat of many colors expressed his father's love for him (sounds like Paul Smith to me)! lol ;P

Fashion and Modesty

Clothing is a language, and I enjoy expressing myself through fashion. Sometimes my outfits scream, and sometimes they whisper...but they always say something. I feel like it is important, as ambassadors of Christ, that we dress deliberately. We should be the best dressed youth in the world. That doesn't mean that we should wear the most expensive clothes...some of my favorite pieces are from thrift stores!
Summer is fast approaching, and I cringe as I watch fashion get once again mutilated by immodesty. Newsflash: Tasteful fashion and immodesty do not mix!
The rules for this season are simple: Keep it pure, fun, and fresh with a nautical splash or a retro twist...and stay away from statements of pride or sensuality.
Here are some of my picks from the spring/summer collections...
